Arnett's

HOME

This picture was taken by a sign company from Nashville that was promoting business in Auburn.

The time line is circa 1962. Arnett's operated a dry goods store in the Square in the premises now [2008] owned by Tom Linton [California]. Next door was the Marian Theatre, which immediately prior to 1962, was owned by Mr. & Mrs. Murray Forgy.

Next to the Marian Theatre, on the right, is the Dollar Store. This is the location of Forgy's Friendly Store up to 1961. It is now [2008] occupied by VanMeter & Son, Auto Repair.

In the foreground, note [another part of history] the telephone kiosk.

Photo: provided by Charles Webb & his mother Ruth Ann [Hughes] Binkley.
